At Leigh’s locks we believe in supporting the local community.
Each each year we donate food and drink to The Trussel Trust which is a fantastic charity providing emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis within our local community.
Thirteen million people live below the poverty line in the UK, with individuals going hungry every day for a range of reasons, from benefit delays to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income.
The Trussell Trust’s 400-strong network of foodbanks provides a minimum of three days’ emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis in the UK. In 2015/16, the Trussell Trust gave 1,109,309 three day emergency food supplies to people in crisis.
The Trussell Trust recognise that stopping hunger is about more than food, which is why they work with foodbanks to provide a range of new services like money advice and Fuel Banks, helping people to break the cycle of poverty.
